After taking lessons with the Faribault club in 1986, called my first tip at an all-night dance. A caller came up to me and said… So, you want to be a caller… be at my house in Waseca once a week and my dances and I will teach you how., that caller was Whitey Aamot. Called a tip at every one of his dances. Later after moving to Burnsville started teaching lessons for Ardales square dance club. Calling all of Minnesota, western Wisc. Northern Iowa. Going to and calling Nationals, until 2008, when I semi-retired from calling. My wife Judy and I started traveling and wintering in Az, where I called for two clubs, for couple more years. In 2021 staying home in Minnesota in the winter decided to start calling again, with my wife passing away on 1/8/22 got more involved. Attended GCA caller school in May of 2022 in Minneapolis with instructors Ken Ritucci and Patty Greene. I am a member of CallerLab, Minnesota Square Dance Callers Association (MSDCA), Gay Callers Association (GCA).
