Biographical Info
Dean & Mary Fishel started Sq. Dancing in 1968 with the Club from Worthington, MN. In 1978 Dean strarted calling and teaching a new Club being formed at Windom, MN. In the following years Dean became Club Caller and teacher for three area clubs, and taught lessons at two more.
Dean’s calling travels include Mn. WI. IA. and So Dak. calling Mainstream and Plus. His biggest regret is not having started calling twenty years sooner, because of the huge amount of enjoyment recieved from helping the dancers enjoy themselves.
He has been a member of MSDCA since it began, and served four years as its chairman. He has been a Callerlab full member for over 25 years, and recieved a certificate for twenty five years of calling in 2003. Dean enjoys using mellow music from the fifties and sixties, and has been active in entertaining with music in church and community his whole life. Since retirement in 1999 from owning a construction firm for twenty four years, he now also entertains at nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Dean hopes to continue to call as long as there are dancers and he is physically able.
