Brian Freed

I learned to square dance in 1987 with the Bloomington Swirlers in Bloomington, Minnesota. Wayne Tauer was the caller. Debbie, my wife, and I are still proud to be members of the Swirlers. We are also members of Gospel PLUS.

I first tried calling in 1991 and it took me until 2007 to try it again. In 2009 I got serious about being a caller so with the help of Mike Driscoll I began to learn all there is about calling. I made my professional calling debut in September of 2009 when I called for TTT Squares. In October of 2009 I am attending the Pride Resort Caller's School with Jerry Story.

In addition to calling, Debbie and I are the Past Presidents of the Bloomington Swirlers, we were the Assistant Chairman for Housing and Registration for the 51st NSDC in 2002. We have also been the Secretaries of the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota. When not working or square dancing I enjoy designing web sites and I have designed and maintain web sites for several callers as well as other organizations. I am the current webmaster for the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota. Debbie and I also are on the production staff for the TV Show, Friendship Set to Music. I made my calling debut on the TV Show in September 2009.

I believe that above all else, square dancing should be fun. That is the attitude I take when dancing and when calling.
